our consultation service
the meeting
Before starting any new project, we take the necessary time to understand your vision and goals. During this in-home consultation, we are able to gain a deeper understanding of your lifestyle, tastes, and design needs. The scope of the project and budget are established. You can expect us to take photos and detailed notes as well as answer any design-related questions you may have. In addition, we routinely provide feedback and valuable ideas during this time together. Typically within a week of our meeting, we will provide you with a Project Fee Proposal outlining our recommended design plan, estimated timeframe, and the associated fees. This is the best starting point for a potential design project and a $300 investment.

our distance/online design service
the dwelling
We begin with a phone call to discuss lifestyle needs, items you would like to keep and replace, budget, and desired timeframe. Pricing is customized based on the scope of the project. Typically within a week of our phone consultation, we provide you with a Project Fee Proposal, outlining the project priorities, some project inspiration to ensure we are on the same page, our recommended design plan and the associated fees along with our Letter of Agreement. Once the terms are agreed-upon we ask that you provide us with photos, measurements, floor plans, and any inspiration photos you have collected. From there, we estimate the time frame and book you a spot on our calendar for the creation of your design concept. Most of the suggestions we make through this service are available at retail, allowing you to take full control of project management.
Final deliverables for all Online and Distance Design projects include clickable shopping list of furnishings and decor, a scaled floor plan and visual concept board with 2 rounds of revisions, the option to purchase more services, and any other relevant suggestions.
This service begins at $1500/room.

"Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful."
- WILLIAM MORRIS

This initial phase lays the foundation for the entire project and kicks off the design process. We get to know you and explore your personal aesthetic. We learn about what inspires you and how we can create an environment that better supports your goals and lifestyle. During this preliminary phase, we consider your homes architecture, and take inventory of any furnishings that are staying. We establish the budget and scope of your design project, and discuss your desired timeframe. During in-person meetings at your home, we gather finer details such as measurements and photos, and take detailed notes. We will also request your home's floor plans if available. This is the best time to share with us any inspiration you have collected. When working together, we will encourage you to step outside your comfort zone as we expose you to new ideas and creative concepts.
This phase is made up of 2 stages beginning with Conceptual Design, where we brainstorm ideas to create initial design concepts that reflect the client's vision and requirements. This may include mood boards, color schemes, patterns, and furnishing styles to ensure the desired direction of the project. Once approved by the client, we move on to Design Development where we refine our concepts based on client feedback. This stage involves budget and space planning, procurement of materials, furnishings and fixtures. We seek bids from contractors for various project needs and expect timeframes to be estimates. We will meet again in your home to present our ideas using visual design boards, floor plans, sketches, furniture tear sheets, and fabric and finish samples to help you visualize the design concept. Sometimes 3D renderings may be appropriate to properly convey the details of a more involved project. Required revisions will be made based on client feedback. And upon approval of the final design, we will send an itemized invoice for all materials and furnishings.
Without a doubt the most challenging phase for clients, but please trust the process! Once the furnishing and material invoice is paid in full, we begin the ordering process. In this phase we will complete a detailed schedule of all specifications and finishes for the contractor(s) working on the project. Clients will contract directly with all trades hired for the project, unless otherwise specified. However, we will handle the project management of all design aspects within the scope. There will be scheduled site visits to monitor progress, address any issues that arise, and ensure the project adheres to the design specifications. Behind the scenes, we are tracking shipping and receiving of all furnishings to our receiver. You can expect us to communicate updates via routine, weekly or bi-weekly emails.
The final phase and installation day! Many of our clients are surprised to learn that preparing a space for install requires some advanced planning. We can coordinate pick-up and donation of outgoing furnishings and recommend a cleaning service. After all the waiting and anticipation, you might want to be there for the big day, however, receiving and moving furniture and placing fixtures, art, and other items is highly-detailed work. The presence of a client hinders our ability to problem solve if something goes awry, so let us focus all our energy and resources to complete your project. Lastly, expect all the feels. Most clients love the thrill of a good transformation but if you have trouble with alterations to your environment, give yourself a chance to adapt to the newness of the space and embrace the beauty and magic we created with you in mind.

kind words
"Colleen and Jen exceeded our expectations in every way. They were thoughtful, great listeners, and able to incorporate our thoughts and opinions into their beautiful style. They took the work personally and made sure that everything was perfect for us and our lifestyle. They also were thoughtful about timeline and timing of work in the setting of our busy family life. We started with a Designer for a Day package and evolved into an entire kitchen and bath renovation because we loved working with them. We could not be happier with our remodel and give our highest recommendation for Sparrow Design House."
